Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet! - The Island Cats

posted by Ernie on Sep 20

So yesterday?we all meowed like pirates!? That was a lot of fun!? But let?s get a little serious today, okay????Petfinder.com has designated the week of September 17-25 as ?Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week,?? a week to spotlight those pets that?re?most often overlooked in shelters.? And you all know one of those less adoptable pets that?s?near and dear to my own heart.? That?s right?the black cat.

?

There?s a myth about us black cats?that we?re evil and unlucky.? Y?know, that couldn?t be farther from the truth.? It?s only in some Western cultures like the U.S. that black cats are considered bad luck and evil.? Here?s some things about black cats you may not know?

  • Black cats are considered good luck in England, Japan and Australia.

  • Some believe a bride will have good marriage if a black cat sneezes near her on her wedding day.

  • In Scotland, finding a black cat on your front porch is a sign of riches and happiness?to come.

  • Some believe stroking a black cat?s furs will bring good health and wealth.

  • Fishermen?s wives would keep black cats when?their husbands went away to sea.??They thought the black cats would prevent danger from occuring to?their husbands.? Black cats were considered so valuable they were often?stolen.? ?

Well, I?don?t know?if any of those things are true, but I do know that us black cats aren?t evil or unlucky.? We?re?the same as any other cat?playful, loveable and?affectionate?and we?ll give you years of unconditional love and furiendship!

?

So if you?re thinking of adopting a cat?or you know someone else who is?give a?black cat a chance.? You won?t be disappointed!!
