CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ? A relative says a 72-year-old vacationer who disappeared in New Hampshire last month hitchhiked, walked and worked odd jobs to get himself home to North Carolina, where a sheriff's deputy finally identified him by the initials on his wedding band.
New Hampshire state police say Hugh Armstrong was found in good health around 1 a.m. Saturday walking along a roadway in Marion, N.C. Authorities say he was confused and unsure where he was headed. Marion is about 240 miles west of his home in Clayton, N.C.
Armstrong's son-in-law, Craig Black, says a deputy found information on Armstrong in a missing person database and identified him. Black said he was shocked when he got the news.
Armstrong vanished July 25 while visiting Stinson Lake, leading to an extensive search.
